Coconut Chutney

South Indian food has so many varieties with their chutneys. Coconut chutney, Peanut chutney, Roasted chana chutney, not forgetting the common chutneys with North India like the coriander chutney, green chili chutney and Mint chutney.

Coconut Chutney tastes awesome with Rice idlis and Sambhar. The spice of the sambhar is mellowed down by the coconut chutney and brings out wonderful flavors.

Instructions
  1. Grind together – coconut + Bengal gram + ginger + coriander + green chilies + salt to a smooth consistency adding about 3-4 tbsp of water. Add curd to this and mix well
  2. Heat oil for tempering and add the Mustard seeds, Urad daal, Asafoetida, Dry red chilies and curry leaves. When the mustard start to crackle, add the tempering into the prepared chutney and mix well. Serve South Indian coconut chutney with dosa and idli.
