Almond Choco Bar

My family and I love homemade chocolates…From Atlantic city, New Jersey to Ooti, India… any place that said homemade chocolates, we were there . We would try almost all kinds, cashews, coconut, caramel and our most favorite Almond. I would always look forward to our trips or spend a fortune online to have them shipped to us.

Finally, one day I got down to trying my own and Oh boy! They were out of the world. And since then, everything changed…These chocolates were made on different occasions along with making them for my kids schools . The best part was everyone always trying to find out the name of the store [since I used colored wrappers from amazon with no names].

The recipe makes chocolates that melt in the mouth. I made these and cut them uneven like homemade chocolate bars. Later, I got chocolate molds and  they look super delicious and beautiful.

Instructions
  1. Saute almonds in a pan, stirring regularly for around 15 minutes. You could spray it lightly with a pan spray though its completely optional. Take them out on a kitchen towel, once done so they absorb excess oil, if any.
  2. Now we need to melt the chocolate chips. Three ways of doing it: A] Take a double boiler B] You could melt them in a microwave too and run the chips for 1 minute at a time till they completely melt. C] You could take a pan with water . Take another pan with chocolate chips. Place the pan with chocolate chips in water. The chocolate will melt while the water boils.
  3. Once the chocolate chips melt, add the sugar, shortening and the cream.
  4. Whip everything well.
  5. Add the almonds. You can chop the almonds too if you wish to.
  6. Spread the chocolate on a parchment paper or in the molds and place it in the freezer for 30 mins.
  7. If you have it on the parchment paper, you can cut the chocolate to your desired shape.
